Love Love Love

What is this society coming to? What is wrong with our culture today? Why are people so incredibly lost? Welcome to a society without God. I have been very easily frustrated lately with people. For instance, this morning at the parade, I saw a (probably) 10-year-old kid beating up his significantly younger brother. The main problem with this scenario was that their two parents were standing not even 8 feet away, not doing anything about it. What is wrong with this picture? Argh it makes me so mad to see any manners, morals and standards our society had much much more of in the early 1900's, dwindling down to close to nothing.

I helped out at the teen conference last weekend and it was encouraging to see kids who DO (for the most part) have morals, manners and standards. At one point, one of the guys opened the door for me and a friend and I just yelled "Chivalry ISN'T dead!!" I was pretty happy... :)

The band Superchick posted a letter about the Virginia Tech shootings on their website. This is a clip from the letter than I thought described accurately how I've been feeling today.

"We can't change what happened at Virginia Tech. We can't change what happened at Columbine. But maybe we can change the lives of the people around us. We shouldn't need tragedies to remind us that people are sad, broken and aching. If you notice someone alone of hurting or lost, REACH OUT TO THEM! Give of yourself. Heal the wounds inflicted by others. Replace hurt with kindness before hate grows in the empty space where love should be.

Pray that your eyes are opened to those who need your love in their life. We have the power to make huge changes in society with our tiny lives. Make your life about something more than you. All around you, people need you."
