Song of the Day!

Usually I don't like Starbucks... in fact, I never HAVE liked Starbucks, BUT since it's the closest spot to my place that has wireless internet, it has become my home away from home to come work on homework. One thing I have really enjoyed is their "Song of the Day". When you buy a drink, they have a song of the day, ranging from Annie Lenox to John Mayer and they give you a card with a code that you can enter on iTunes to get a free download. It's pretty cool.

I've been working between two jobs for the past just-over a month and it has proven pretty hard, but I'm surviving. I told my boss at Macy's that I wanted some more money and he said that he couldn't offer me more money in the department I'm in now, but he said that he could get me a job in cosmetics, where I could make around $6 more an hour. As much as I don't want to be selling $40 mascara, the money is much much better. They want me to start in Estee Lauder... I'm on the fence about it, but we'll see what ends up happening.

It has been great to finally get settled enough that I can just hang out with people one-on-one and it's not really awkward, ya know, that "I don't really know you, so I'm going to spend the whole time we're together just asking you questions about yourself" kind of hanging-out. That is finally starting to pass, thank goodness!!!! It has been really fun to start exploring the city-- my boss is great at giving me info on good local places to go and things to do. Every week or so he'll make me another list of places I need to explore and experience. It's a lot of fun- he's kind of made me his newest 'project' in making me feel welcome and answering questions, etc. that I might have about the area or directions. He's great.

Last night I went to Uptown with my friend Nicole (we are so similar, it's a little freaky!) and we went to a couple really really cool second-hand stores and then got some great local pizzzzzza. It was a lot of fun- I love the feeling of just feeling like I'm discovering what's around and planning things to do on my days off. (Just as a side note: my love for Minneapolis will never overcome my love for Ames. That would be very very very hard to do.)

Ruth, Katie, Anna, Rebekah and Neva are coming to visit next weekend. I am SOOO excited for them to visit and go to the Rock with us/meet some of our friends here. I had been wanting to have a "Life" party for a while, but it seemed like next Friday after the Rock would be the perfect time to have it, since the 5 gals will be here, so next Friday's after-Rock activity for the student small groups will be a Life party in the partyroom of our apartment. We're gonna just play life (we have 4 games now- 2 more on the way) and eat life cereal (all 9 kinds?!) til like 3 a.m. My dad used to have life parties in college and I had always wanted to have one...so I could be cool like my dad. Haha.

Well, I think that's the update for a while. God is good! All the time!
