These are my verses and promises I claimed for my trip to Barcelona. God came through on all of them. :)
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." -Prov 3:5-6
A.K.A. Don't trust in your Spanish skills or lack thereof. Just trust that God will bless your efforts and will provide grace with communication.
"But how are they to call on Him in whome they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whome they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!""- Romans 10:14-15
"My people shall be satisfied with my goodness, declares the Lord." -2nd half Jeremiah 31:14
I came back satisfied with the goodness of the Lord. :)
-Don' ever rule someone out b/c they are too old or too young to hear the truth. God can use any of his children to tell anyone else about His good news.
Benito is a living example of this:

"The Lord replied, "Look around at the nations and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe even if someone told you about it." -Habakkuk 1:5
I can pretty confidently say that everyone's expectations were blown away by the fruit of this week in Barcelona. He certainly IS doing something in our own day!
*This was the verse on a card my dear friend Daphne gave me one of the last days we were in Barcelona. It was a comfort and encouragement, as I had been struggling with a lot of hand pain and humility:
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." -Romans 8:18
A few other verses I clung to (and still am):
"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray." -James 5:13
"Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at PEACE." -2 Peter 3:14
I asked God that I'd be able to see His glory on this trip. Check yet again...!:)
"And the Lord said to Moses, "I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name." Then Moses said,"Not show me your glory." And the Lord said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence." -Exodus 33:17-19
Steele Croswhite's song "Your Love Remains" has been echoing through my mind a lot since being back. His love remained in Barcelona, it remains here through my hand trial, it will remain 25 years from now. How easy it is for us to lose sight of that simple truth. His love remains.
When I don't feel it/ When I don't give it
When I don't want it...your love remains
When I don't see it/ When I am sinful
When I am winning...your love remains
When I am waking/ When I am working
When I am resting...your love remains
When I am doubting/ When I am fighting
As I do worry...your love remains
When I am tired/ When I am broken
When I am resistant...your love remains
When I am lonely/ Or when I'm surrounded
When I am uncertain...your love remains
When I am tempted/ When I am mourning
When I am waiting...your love remains
When I am restless/ When I am indifferent
When I am unfocused...your love remains
When you renewed me/ When you restored me
When you redeem me...your love remains
When you come claim me/ When this life is over
In your arms forever...I will remain
Barcelona 2009 will forever hold a special place in my heart. What a week of growth, trials, amazing relationships and witness to God's goodness. DSM and Madrid brothers and sisters, I can't wait til we can all reunite once again someday in heaven. It's going to be a fiesta, that's for sure!!!!! :)
