Tonight I've been skimming through this book called "The Book of Awesome" by Neil Pasricha. It's a book that is filled with things experienced in life that are awesome. The underlying message of the book is to not take for granted the little joys in life and to acknowledge the "awesome little moments that can make a difference in our rushed, jam-packed lives". Here are some of my favorite "awesomes" that I completely agree with:
1. Seeing a cop on the side of the road and realizing you're going the speed limit anyway.
Stress level goes up.
Stress level goes down.
AWESOME!
2. High-fiving babies.
Because they don't usually leave you hanging.
AWESOME!
3. Popping bubble wrap.
4. When someone lands on the hotel you just built in Monopoly. :)
5. Tripping and realizing no one saw you.
6. When the vending machine gives you two things instead of one!
7. Old folks who sit on their porch and wave at you when you walk by.
8. Catching somebody singing in their car and sharing a laugh with them.
9. Nailing a parallel parking attempt on the first try.
(This doesn't happen often for me! :)
10. A long hug when you really need it!
11. Solving the Wheel of Fortune puzzles before the people on the show. :)
12. That one square in the waffle that's the most loaded with butter and syrup.
Oh, you know the one. It's full to the brim with a melty smear of butter and
drenched in a puddle of thick syrup. Good move saving it for last. AWESOME!
13. When you hear someone's smile over the phone.
14. Snow falling on Christmas Eve!
15. Getting something with actual handwriting on it in the mail.
There are countless others mentioned in the book, I just shared a few of my favorites. :) This book has reminded me to acknowledge and be thankful for the little joys in life because it's too short to do otherwise!
