Crazy Cool

So for those of you who I haven't already excitedly told this to- God has been doing some pretty sweet stuff in the past few days.

The Lincoln decision has been on my mind constantly and I have just been waiting for some clear leading and I wasn't feeling like I had that. Well, for whatever reason (I still don't know myself!), I decided to email the clarinet professor at University of Lincoln-Nebraska.

*side note: when applying/auditioning for any music program at any university, usually you have to have been accepted to the university, have sent in all transcripts, recommendations, etc. and have auditioned LIVE before March 1. I know this because I went through it last spring. It's pretty stressful.

Anyways, I KNEW it was a longshot- being the very end of April and knowing they had already finished all auditions and sent out scholarship letters. I decided to email her anyways, attaching my music resume, along with an old recording I have of myself. I just asked if there was any possible way I could get any kind of scholarship for the fall. The plan was (if i did go to lincoln to help that church) to work for a year so I could get in-state tuition for the following fall. I really didn't want to take time off from school, so I wasn't so thrilled about that idea.

I feel like I keep getting off topic- anyways, I emailed her and just about 15 minutes later, she emailed me back saying she had talked to these different people in different departments and said that everything was due March 1st, but they would make an exception for me. She said my recording was great and they would give me until May 1st to get my stuff in on time. It was such a God thing! This kind of thing hardly ever happens when applying for big scholarships!

So she said I'd have to overnight everything Monday, so it'd get there by Tuesday (May 1st). She forwarded my recording to the other woodwind faculty and emailed me back the next day saying they had all agreed to accept me into the school of music. She said if when my transcripts came, my grades were high enough (from MSU and high school), that they would be able to offer me in-state tuition, if not even lower than that. Wow! I also needed a recent recording. So yesterday, extremely last-minute, we called Scott Hanson to see if he could possibly record my mom and I playing a piece we hadn't played for a year! My mom and whipped out this piece, dusted it off last night, and recorded today. I just emailed it to her- then tomorrow I overnight all transcripts and such.

Also, my parents and I are going to Lincoln this coming weekend, so if you could please pray that God would lead through that visit as well... I'm meeting with the clarinet professor on Saturday and then we're going to visit the church on Sunday and talk with the pastors.

I have been praying for clear leading in this decision for quite a while, and finally feel like I'm getting some leading. If you could just pray that if God wants me there in the fall, this scholarship would pull through- (enough for me to be in the dorms would be amazing for outreach). All of this happened so incredibly fast, so hopefully I should have some answers within the next 4 or 5 days. God is doing some big work here- no matter how it turns out! Also, if the scholarship comes through enough for me to not even have to worry about finances in the fall, I could probably be able to move there over the summer and be there for all of the Infusion. We'll just have to see how God leads through this! :-)
